The Chicago Urban League has filed a lawsuit against the state of Illinois and the Illinois State Board of Education claiming the school funding methods are unconstitutional. According to Cheryle Jackson, president of the Chicago Urban League, minority children are not getting the same level of quality education as their more affluent counterparts.This lawsuit comes on the heels of State Senator Reverend Meeks call for a school boycott to highlight the disparities of school funding.
